I nearly loathed Sky Captain the first time I saw it, but it has really grown on me.  Watching special features always does that.  And I wish I was impossibly poised and well-groomed.

Everybody is making "Keep Calm and Carry on" prints nowadays ("Keep Calm and Carrie Bradshaw" "Keep Calm and Carry a Towel"), and this is the same sort of thing.  They were posters put up in the tube stations and public places during the war to boost morale.  They are rather hilarious - and nice looking.

It all seems so glamourous when you read about flying in the forties and fifties.  Death in the Clouds makes me quite wistful, even though someone is killed en route.

Remember that movie Fairy Tale, with Peter O'Toole as Arthur Conan Doyle?  This is one of the original pics. Rather sad, really.  I like the movie better than the real-life story.

From Anthropologie.

Funny Face, a photographer who I love and can't remember, leaves from my parking lot.  Warmish neutrals was the idea, I suppose.

but not Ferdinand.

The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf, a beautiful book originally released just before the Spanish civil war.
Illustrated by the excellent, excellent Robert Lawson.

I like transport maps.

The original.

Starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire.
